Term:
5 years (8/15/2024 - 8/14/2029)
Description: We look forward to supporting nominees to our Executive Committee
that reflect the
remarkable diversity of our global membership. The Program-Chair
elect (also known as the PDW Chair) position is a five-year commitment
to the Interest
Group leadership track, with progressive responsibilities each
successive year for the Interest Group executive leadership and the
membership.
During the first year, the elected individual serves as MSR Professional
Development
Chair for annual AOM conference. By MSR tradition, the PDW chair
also plans the MSR Social, the MSR Executive Committee dinner and
the off-site MSR
Community Dinner,
when a physical conference occurs. In the second year
responsibilities include the Scholarly Program Chair of the MSR Interest
Group for the
AOM conference. By tradition, the Scholarly Program Chair helps the
PDW chair in social planning and also plans the MSR
Business Meeting, the MSR Plenary session, the MSR and Friends event,
and the MSR morning meditation sessions, when a physical conference
takes place. Then, the
Chair-Elect year is mostly a year off for a break, but also helping the
Chair, participating in
the MSR Executive Committee meetings and otherwise
becoming engaged in whatever might be needed, by way of early
preparation for the Chair
position role. In the fourth year, the elected individual serves as
MSR Chair, perhaps the most critical role. The fifth year of service
involves acting as
Nominating Committee Chair for the annual MSR Elections and
continuing participation in the MSR Executive Committee meetings.
Important candidate requirements for this continuing position not only
involve MSR
domain expertise, scholarly work, and commitment to the MSR
mission, but also good follow-through and attention to detail. The MSR
leadership track
seeks visionary and strategic leadership, an ability to encourage
the engagement of membership and others in a common cause, effective
team-building
and communication skills, creativity and resourcefulness, an
appreciation of MSR's rich history, open-mindedness and inclusiveness,
the ability to work
across geographic and cultural boundaries, organizational and
administrative prowess, and the capacity to understand appropriate AOM
policies,
processes, and practices. As with all MSR leadership positions, the
individual elected to this role should have a positive action orientation,
amicability,
perseverance, high ethics, and values. Additional skills for success
include time management, adaptability, sound decision-making abilities,
an aptitude for
development, comfort with virtual collaboration, and a firm
commitment to attend each annual Academy conference. Please review
the MSR Domain
Statement and Bylaws for further information:
